Happy New Year! As I got ready for bed, I noticed Leroy comfortably laying on his back - legs twitching and breathing restfully. His pose had me reflect on where we were a year ago. Both of my boy’s were at a board and train- it was a horrible way to start a new year. We rescued Leroy on 11/11/21 at 5 months old. He didn’t know anything about being a dog or living in a house. He slept in a tight curled up ball like a hidden fawn in the woods. He was terrified of men and new experiences. It took him half a year to wag his tail and sleep on the bed and 9 months to lay on his back with his belly exposed. We met Val at Drop the Leash LLC shortly after our bad experience with a board and train franchise. Our story was about to change. Thanks to Val’s guidance and my mom’s unwavering support, we are a happy family. We even met our goal that we wrote down at the beginning of training with Val-to live in peace amongst each other and enjoy the adventure of life together. After perseverance, patience, consistency, and loads of love, Leroy knows this is his family. Seeing him do the iconic poodle lay brings my heart so much joy. 2023 is Leroy’s year to continue building confidence and embark on more adventures as a family. I now understand the love of a dog rescued from a bad situation. 2022 was a year of character growth. 2023 is the beginning of another chapter.
